Mango Mangos

Mamma Mia and the Cannoli Kid went up to Saint Augstine over a year ago and found this great restaurant on the beach. They loved it so much that it was the first stop when they brought the kids up to the oldest town in America. Only within a short walk from the beach the atmosphere is very laid back and the staff is very friendly. The food found on the menu is filled with American standards with a caribbean twist that The Family fell in love with.

The Verdict:

Mama Mozzarella says Caribbean food is a flavor explosion combining exotic native peppers and fruits:
"This is one of our favorite restaurants in Florida, PERIOD!!! The atmosphere is exactly what you would imagine for a Florida tropical themed restaurant just a few steps away from the white sands of St. Augustine Beach. I had the Tropical Paradise Chicken, the cajun mango sauce is spicey and served with slices of avocado. On a previous trip I tried the caribbean burger which is moist and topped with a Jamaican jalapeno relish & a mango chutney mayo…everything on their menu is bursting with flavor. The kids enjoy the island music and my teen girl enjoys scoping out the hot surfer boys heading to the beach, lol."

Marina Marinara dreams of the islands, spices and fruits:

"They have a really laid-back Caribbean vibe to it. The appetizers were soooo good. The shrimp nachos and chicken nachos were delicious!! I highly recommend them. All the flavors are balanced well. The wait staff are very friendly locals. There is a great view, if you get a good seating lol. It shows another side of St. Augustine besides just the historic district."

Little Linguini loves fruit and chicken:

"It was very colorful from the outside and the nachos were good. I really liked to be able to walk to the beach after eating and we didn't have to walk as far."

The Cannoli Kid thinks fruits, seafood and meats are a marriage made in heaven:

"I absolutely love this place. Ever since I had those tri-colored nachos and incredible brown sugar and jerked burger I fell head over stomach. Each time I've gone there the wait staff has been very cool and the design of the restaurant fits the food perfectly. As Little Linguini says it is a huge plus that the beach is only a four minute walk away from Mangos. I highly recommend visiting this place - I will definitely make a three hour trip to go back up and eat there."

Shrimp Nachos - yum yum!

Ordered: (varied - as The Family went there twice during the last visit). They also bought this very soothing Salt Scrub that Mango's sells out of their restaurant. They sell t-shirts and their own hot sauce too!

Expect to spend around $60.00 + tip for a family of four with a big appetite.
