Rancho Chico of Jupiter

The Family loves to hop on over to Ranch Chico's when they are up in Jupiter. A fun and family oriented establishment that serves up some hot dishes and cool desserts.
Rancho Chico In the Big Jupe

Momma Mozzarella is a connoisseur of mexican food:
"It has a very family friendly atmosphere. Nice mexican decor and very friendly staff. They are very courteous and prompt - we've never had a bad experience there. The food is Mexican-American not to be confused with authentic Mexican cuisine. So they are heavy handed with the cheese. On this day, unfortunately, all the plates were different menu items but at first glance they looked the same. We had ordered from lunch special menu where everything not only looked similar but tasted similar. Many other times we have been there we've ordered many different plates that were delicious. The tortilla soup and the steak I have had there are really good. The dessert's that we ordered were Mexican-American happiness. Fried ice cream and apple caramel filled churros - what more can I say except delicioso."

Little Linguini doesn't like Mexican food:
"It stinks!"

Marina Marina thinks Mexican food is delicious and she could eat it all day:
"I thought everything was really well made. It was really juicy. Even the leftovers are really good. Overall, I think it was really good. Since I am part Mexican it takes me back to my roots and I always look forward to going there."

The Cannoli Kid thinks Mexican cuisine is the spice of life:
"I didn't expect much when going to this place but I was quickly proven wrong. The appetizers and main dishes are very good and the dessert is definitely above the border. My favorites are the shrimp fajitas and the fried ice cream. The staff is really friendly and the vibe in the restaurant is conducive to a having a good time. Overall, it is an easy and fun place to eat with The Family."

Zipz's Italian Kitchen

The Family loves some pizza and while in Jupiter they always check out Zip'z Italian Kitchen!

Mamma Mozzarella is not a big pizza fan but loves Italian cuisine:
"Zipz's is a pizza institution in Jupiter. You can expect a very busy restaurant on Friday and Saturday nights - they are usually packed. It is a New York style family pizzeria. Very casual. I love the New York scenic murals on the wall. I always order their dinner salad with their home made balsamic dressing. This night I decided to go wild and order the chicken Fettucini Alfredo. As the plate arrived and I noticed the chicken was cut up in uniform pieces I knew that at that moment I should of stuck with the pizza. I had a few bites of the pasta and decided to take it home for anyone who wanted it; I still don"t know what ever happened to it. I'm not a huge fan of pizza but their pizza is very good".

Marina Marinara is about to be sick of pizza but:
"This place is very fulfilling. The pizza is cheesy and freshly made. The staff is great - nice and homely. Overall, it is a nice place with nice drinks and free candy."

The Cannoli Kid thinks pizza is better greasy:
"I love this place and I do not say that just because I was paid to. No, I am just kidding... Really this pizza brings me back to New York City. When I worked in Midtown I used to get slices from two different spots and the pizza at Zipz's can definitely compete with them. The appetizers I have had there have been fairly good - nothing to write home about or on this blog about - I say just go there for the pizza. The staff is fairly friendly and the environment is laid back. It does get packed a bit so we tend to get there around 5:45 to beat the rush or else we just order for pick up."

Little Linguini hates pizza!
"Pizza stinks!"

Rib Bizz

The Family was very hungry (as usual) on a Saturday night and decided to go to their local haunt Rib Bizz in Boca Raton. They had been there about five times before and loved the laid back atmospher, friendly service and of course some surprisingly tasty tidbits.

The Verdict:

Little Linguini loves chicken wings as long as they are not spicy!

"The pig place has great music!! Their wings are good and saucy; I like to get all messy when I eat them."

Marina Marinara enjoys BBQ especially the leftovers!

"I thought the food delicious and everything was cooked perfectly, they never fail when it comes to that. The service was a little rough and we did have some difficulties but the restaurant handled the situation very very well."

Mamma Mia likes to indulge every once in a while in some delectable delights.

"We have been there at least four times. The food is consistently delicious. I get the pulled pork sandwich, pork is tender, barbeque sauce yummy and they grill their soft buns. I love their greens which they cook with smoked turkey and red pepper, typical southern style. They also make their own sweet potato pie and red velvet cake.

The only downside is the heat inside the restaurant, can get really hot with all the windows; however on the upside I will definitely head there in the winter to warm up. The owner is awesome, great customer service; some of the waitresses had a very difficult time handling their busy sections. The painted walls and groovy music keep the kids happy and distracted which is great."

The Cannoli Kid digs on pork and loves all kinds of sides.

"When I first went to Rib Bizz I was blown away. I've been to another competitor in the area and while their BBQ is fantastic - Rib Bizz comes in to steal the show with their sides. The mac and cheese was delicious as well as the baked beans - both flavored with something I can't seem to put my taste buds on. The collard greens are just as delicious but where my heart rests (temporarily) is with the Chicken & Waffles. Heaven.

When we went this night service was not too good. Namely our waitress. I ended up with a drink spilled all over me as the hot sun blared in my face in the overly warm restaurant. However, the owner stepped up and sent us home with free desserts and discounted the entire meal. I definitely will be going back there and will bring in guests from out of town to experience the Bizz for themselves."

We order different every time and usually overdo it and end up taking some food home as well as desserts. Expect to spend around $60.00 for a hungry family of four. Less if you are not that hungry ;0).

Mango Mangos

Mamma Mia and the Cannoli Kid went up to Saint Augstine over a year ago and found this great restaurant on the beach. They loved it so much that it was the first stop when they brought the kids up to the oldest town in America. Only within a short walk from the beach the atmosphere is very laid back and the staff is very friendly. The food found on the menu is filled with American standards with a caribbean twist that The Family fell in love with.

The Verdict:

Mama Mozzarella says Caribbean food is a flavor explosion combining exotic native peppers and fruits:
"This is one of our favorite restaurants in Florida, PERIOD!!! The atmosphere is exactly what you would imagine for a Florida tropical themed restaurant just a few steps away from the white sands of St. Augustine Beach. I had the Tropical Paradise Chicken, the cajun mango sauce is spicey and served with slices of avocado. On a previous trip I tried the caribbean burger which is moist and topped with a Jamaican jalapeno relish & a mango chutney mayo…everything on their menu is bursting with flavor. The kids enjoy the island music and my teen girl enjoys scoping out the hot surfer boys heading to the beach, lol."

Marina Marinara dreams of the islands, spices and fruits:

"They have a really laid-back Caribbean vibe to it. The appetizers were soooo good. The shrimp nachos and chicken nachos were delicious!! I highly recommend them. All the flavors are balanced well. The wait staff are very friendly locals. There is a great view, if you get a good seating lol. It shows another side of St. Augustine besides just the historic district."

Little Linguini loves fruit and chicken:

"It was very colorful from the outside and the nachos were good. I really liked to be able to walk to the beach after eating and we didn't have to walk as far."

The Cannoli Kid thinks fruits, seafood and meats are a marriage made in heaven:

"I absolutely love this place. Ever since I had those tri-colored nachos and incredible brown sugar and jerked burger I fell head over stomach. Each time I've gone there the wait staff has been very cool and the design of the restaurant fits the food perfectly. As Little Linguini says it is a huge plus that the beach is only a four minute walk away from Mangos. I highly recommend visiting this place - I will definitely make a three hour trip to go back up and eat there."

Ordered: (varied - as The Family went there twice during the last visit). They also bought this very soothing Salt Scrub that Mango's sells out of their restaurant. They sell t-shirts and their own hot sauce too!

Expect to spend around $60.00 + tip for a family of four with a big appetite.

Riggins Crabhouse

The Family had been meaning to go Riggins Crabhouse for a while. They had a gift certificate for $50.00 from Mamma Mia's Walk for Breast Cancer fundraiser. This staple restaurant of Lantana, Florida provides a Maryland atmosphere in the sunny south. Walls are adorned with Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens memorabilia as well as kitschy artwork and objects that one might find at a crab spot in Annapolis, Maryland.

We arrived there around 6:00 pm and the parking lot was near empty. Perfect timing. When we left there were about thirty cars parked around ours.

The verdict:

Marina Marinara likes shellfish but does not like normal fish.

"It was really nice and had a good atmosphere but should of had music. I liked the fishtanks. Overall it was a good restaurant. The food was not overcooked or undercooked. It was nice."

Mamma Mia loves seafood. She loves crabs but does not like the work.

"It's a wonderful place to take the kids. Little Linguini was completely occupied from the time we got in to the time we left which gave me time to have some nice conversation with the Cannoli Kid and Marina Marinara. I had the Broccoli Alfredo with blue crab and the sauce was homemade and the crab was fresh."

Little Linguini really does not like seafood.

"The curly fries were good. I liked the fish tank and being able to draw on the table. I loved to see the license plates on the wall and all the other decorations."

The Cannoli Kid really enjoys digging into some seafood especially when it is covered in Old Bay.

"I was happy as a clam when I found Riggins. I've probably gone to the restaurant several times over the past few years. This night I decided to make it easy for myself and indulged in some Snow Crabs. I love the laid back atmosphere and the friendly staff. I've never had a bad experience at this place and highly recommend it for anyone hungry for some good seafood Maryland style"

Cafe Frankie's Pizza

Cafe Frankie's is definitely a hidden gem of the South Florida area. The Family has frequented Frankie's several times before and even brought in out-of-towners who equally enjoyed the tasty tidbits offered there. They decided to make it an easy Monday evening and ordered pizzas to pick up at the restaurant located on Ocean Avenue in Boynton Beach.

The verdict:

Marina Marinara really thinks that pizza is a good snack and comfort food.

"I thought that it was a little dry - the tomato sauce and bread - but the cheese on it made it better. I think maybe that they had cooked it for too long. However, I had been to Frankie's before with The Family and I thought it was great at the restaurant. "

Little Linguini loves pizza and was very excited to find out that was what was on the menu for Monday Night Dinner.

"I thought the pizza was very spicy with a lot of oil and it filled me up. It tasted delicious! My favorite part was when we picked up the pizza and I saw Frankie's bird."

Momma Mozzarella says she is not a huge fan of pizza but can eat it once every blue moon.

"I feel less guilty eating Frankie's pizza because I am eating it with their delicious arugula salad. I would have preferred to have their Margherita pizza instead. It 's usually softer with a bit more flavor."

The Cannoli Kid thinks that Frankie's has the best pizza around the Delray Beach area. He used to work at a place called the Big Tomato, which made specialty pies, in Delray and has eaten at the many other pizza joints in the area and throughout the country.

"The pizza is greasy like my hair. I love it! Tonight I found the crust to be a bit tough but the grease on the pizza made up for it. I am a fan of some greasy pizza - no napkins to mop it up, please. However, I have had great experiences without the grease at Frankie's when we've dined in. One time we took friends, from out of town, to Frankie's and the pizza we ordered came out wrong and Frankie had it taken back and fixed up an amazing Margherita pizza free of charge. "
